Edition Speciale by LUXE PACK ups the ante for fourth edition in June

Some 79 exhibitors are expected to welcome an estimated 2,000 visitors when Edition Spéciale by LUXE PACK opens its doors in Paris next month. The trade show specialized in eco-designed luxury packaging solutions will showcase new materials, highlight packaging start-ups and put on a packed conference program. Executives from brands including Coty, Guerlain and Diptyque feature among the more than 50 speakers.

Edition Spéciale by LUXE PACK, the event dedicated to sustainable packaging innovation across fragrance and cosmetics, wines and spirits, fine foods, fashion and leather goods, is taking place on June 7-8 at Paris’ Carreau du Temple.

The show is debuting a packaging start-ups space this year, dedicated to nascent companies leveraging renewable resources for the production of new materials and products. These include HK Biotech Limited, an Asian company developing bio-engineered mushroom foam; Restalk France, which transforms agricultural residues into new materials and products, and Germany’s Rezemo, with its wood fiber-based cosmetics packaging Forewood.

The show will also feature materials pitches, with companies taking 10 minutes on stage to win over potential clients. Along with the likes of WoolaAuressens and Lebiu Design, other 'next-gen' materials providers exhibiting at the show include Mycanova, a biomaterial made with mycelium; recycled leather specialist Recyc Leather, and Adaozan, which upcycles apple pomace, a by-product of cider-making.

Smaller workshops to spur interaction

Also a novelty for this year is a series of workshops in the Bar area of the event space. Designed to foster debate and interaction in small groups, the workshops will feature French environment agency Ademe, recycling organization Citeo, (RE)SET and eco-design agency Cooperative Mu.

For 2023, the conference program features more than 50 speakers, with executives from Coty, Guerlain and Diptyque all on the roster.

The keynote speech is by François Danel, Managing Director of Earthwake Enterprise, a French start-up that commercializes a technology to transform plastic waste into energy for use in emerging economies. Dubbed Chrysalis, the solution transforms PE and PP plastic waste into fuel via pyrolysis. The process is said to be self-sufficient as the fuel it produces is used to power the technology.

A session on the realities of the market for refillable and reusable products features speakers from Ecospirits and Stella by Stella McCartney. And a conference entitled ‘Creating iconic packaging with the planet in mind’ brings together Nicole Rycroft, Founder & Executive Director of not-for-profit Canopy; Alexandre Capelli, Deputy Director of Environment and Sustainability at LVMH, and Benjamin Cassou, Co-founder and CEO of next-gen materials company Restalk.

Luxe Packaging Insight and Formes de Luxe Editorial Director Alissa Demorest will be hosting a session that dives into the molded fiber Champagne packaging created by James Cropper Colourform for Perrier-Jouët.

The Green Awards, with partner Infinity Global, are back again this year. The winner will be unveiled on the first day of the show. Last year the award was given to French company Créanog, for its wooden coffret that combines hot-stamping and embossing.

This year, some 79 exhibitors have been confirmed, including luxury packaging industry stalwarts Bormioli Luigi, Estal, Gainerie 91, Knoll Packaging, Procos and Kurz. New exhibitors include Gainerie Moderne; Pujolasos, Holy Samping and Maestro Packaging.
