Easyfairs readies for launch of PLD's first edition

On January 29th, Easyfairs will inaugurate the 16th edition of packaging show PCD/ADF with an offer featuring a slew of new areas and experiences. A major novelty in 2020 is the launch of PLD (Packaging of Premium and Luxury Drinks), an area dedicated to the spirits segment that will join PCD (Packaging of Perfume, Cosmetics & Design) and ADF (Aerosol & Dispensing Forum) to offer "a global vision of the packaging sector", according to Josh Brooks, director of ADF&PCD and PLD Paris.

In addition to the exhibitor booths at PLD, a cocktail bar will offer mixology demonstrations (including a “signature PLD cocktail”) while an olfactory workshop—a partnership with the Fragrance Foundation France and Cinquième Sens—will highlight the aromas used across both spirits and fragrance segments. "This workshop will help visitors gain a deeper understanding of the products they package, and highlight the shared inspirations for product and packaging developers across the drinks and perfume markets," explains the organizer. This edition of PCD also marks the launch of a Korean Pavilion with the presence of 12 South Korean packaging suppliers. For those visitors craving a bit of culture, the Art Trail space will showcase the work of artists from in and around Paris in a bid to inspire and stimulate visitors when it comes to the visual aspect of their products.

The PCD conference program will reflect the key concern currently facing packaging players, with a majority of sessions addressing sustainable development issues, while the PLD conferences will focus on branding and design as well as featuring keynote sessions by senior executives from Camus, Diageo, Pernod-Ricard and Edrington. Around 700 exhibitors will be present at this year’s show, some 100 more than in 2019. The exhibition will be held from January 29-30 at the Porte de Versailles in Paris with the ADF/PCD Awards ceremony taking place on the first day of the exhibition at 3pm.

On the international front, Easyfairs confirmed to Formes de Luxe last month that the PCD/ADF show in New York will not take place in 2020. "It has been a hard decision to postpone the New York event, but we have decided to focus on our Paris show, which has gone through an incredible period of growth in recent years," explains Paul MacDonald, Easyfairs global brand director, packaging.
