Easyfairs gears up for next edition of ADF&PCD and PLD Paris

After a cancelled event in 2021 due to the health crisis, packaging trade show ADF & PCD & PLD Paris organizer Easyfairs is pulling out the stops for its 2022 edition. Exhibitor and visitor numbers for the January 2022 event are expected to be on par with 2020, while its Innovation Awards and student competition are designed to inspire the packaging community.

Next January, ADF&PCD and PLD Paris is expecting a full house. The packaging trade show has announced that more than 640 exhibitors have signed on for this edition: some 450 for PCD, the beauty-focused portion of the show, 150 for drinks component PLD, which first launched in 2020 and around 100 for ADF, specialized in aerosol packaging solutions. “We had 10,000 visitors at the show in 2020 and we’re aiming to match that number in 2022,” Josh Brooks, Director ADF&PCD and PLD Paris at Easyfairs, tells Luxe Packaging Insight.

The PCD, PLD and ADF Innovation Awards will be unveiled at individual ceremonies during the two-day show, with a dedicated gallery area featuring shortlisted projects. “This portion of the show floor is not simply a venue to feature the nominees, but an exhibition highlighting what we’ve identified as the five biggest trends facing the packaging industry. Each shortlisted product was chosen as it illustrates and personifies one of these trends,” explains Brooks.

Tapping student talent

Easyfairs has organized two student competitions focused on beauty solutions with leading French packaging schools. Think Tank, a contest sponsored by The Estée Lauder Companies, is a partnership with ESEPAC and ESP (Ecole Supérieur du Parfum) on the theme “Reinventing Unique, Luxury and Sustainable Consumption Experiences for Fragrance”. Talent Challenge, a collaboration with ESI Reims sponsored by Huda Beauty and Shiseido, is challenging students to revamp the packaging of existing products in the brands’ portfolios in a bid to give them a more premium positioning.

“These competitions reinforce our mission, which is to provide the packaging community with a clear vision of where innovation is headed in the years to come,” comments Christelle Anya, Community and Content Director at ADF&PCD and PLD Paris. For the 2023 edition, Easyfairs is working on a student competition with ESI Reims dedicated specifically to spirits packaging.

A panel of conferences, keynotes and roundtable discussions will highlight issues including beauty trends (with trend agency BeautyStreams), Asian consumer perception on environmentally-friendly cosmetics, recyclability in cosmetics packaging, materials of the future and how to manage product development when working remotely.

The show will take place on January 19th-20th at Paris’ Porte de Versailles. Luxe Packaging Insight and Formes de Luxe are press partners of the event.
