Dow to launch biobased and circular Surlyn grades

At Paris Packaging Week, Dow announced its collaboration with LVMH Beauty to supply the French group with biobased and circular Surlyn.

US-based chemical company Dow presented two new grades of Surlyn at the show. Bio-based Surlyn is made from generation two waste, such as used cooking oil, while circular Surlyn is the result of chemically recycled “hard to recycle” plastics. The first LVMH branded product, a cap for Guerlain’s La Petite Robe Noir fragrance, is set to launch later this year. Dow explains that these new grades of Surlyn will come at a price premium.

The company aims to commercialize 3 million metric tons per year of “circular and renewable solutions" all market segments combined by 2030.
