French candles specialist Diptyque called on Parisian illustrator Ugo Gattoni to design products from its 2020 Christmas collection.
Les Animaux Merveilleux, Ugo Gattoni’s artwork decorating Diptyque’s limited-edition holiday candle, advent calendar and room spray, among others, recounts a Christmas fairytale—a swan, a stag and a lion crossing Paris on Christmas Eve.
2020 Christmas candle
Three limited-edition candles—one red, one green and one blue—comprise the Christmas collection.
Each animal in Ugo Gattoni’s illustrated story is assigned its own candle: the floral Fleur Majesté for the lion; Ambre Plume, with notes of cinnamon and orange, for the swan, and the woody aromatic Sapin de Noel for the stag. The candle holders (Arques) decorated using sublimation (Cerve) come in matching boxes (Nortier) sheathed in Delos paper that is hot-stamped and offset printed.
The candles come in two sizes, 70g and 190g, priced at €34 and €65 respectively.

2020 Advent calendar
In the same shade of blue as the Ambre Plume candle, the advent calendar (Cavalieri & Amoretti) is offset-printed with Gattoni’s illustrations. Its 25 drawers house a selection of full-size and sample-size products from among Diptyque’s most iconic references. The calendar, which is designed for reuse, retails at €350.

Christmas 2020 Room Spray
Diptyque launched a room spray in the same fragrance as the Sapin de Nuit candle. Here, Gattoni’s illustration takes form on the label (Print Dorure), while the transparent glass bottle (Bormioli Luigi) is topped with a sleek black cap (Techniplast). The 50ml scent retails at €35.

Gattoni also did illustrations for other products in Diptyque's Christmas collection, including the carrousel coffret (€95 for 1 x 190g candle, €100 for 2 x 70g candles) and the lantern (€70).
