With Horizon, its latest collection of stoppers making their debut at the Edition Spéciale by LUXE PACK show in Paris, Delage replaces up to 50% fossil-based content with upcycled natural materials.
Oyster and Mineral are the two grades comprising Horizon, a newly launched collection of premium stoppers by Delage. “We want to offer the market a range that reduces the charge of PE or PP in the stopper head by replacing it with upcycled natural materials,” explained Lauren Hylton-Davies, Marketing Manager at the Cognac-based premium stopper manufacturer.
Bringing a natural charge
The Horizon Oyster reference is comprised of 30% oyster shell and the remainder in PP, while Horizon Mineral has 50% calcium carbonate – or chalk – and 50% PP. Each closure is unique in terms of its touch and aesthetics, in line with current market trends for one-of-a-kind packaging components. The cork comes in two shapes, conical or cylindrical and the stopper head can be tinted in an infinite number of colors. At the show, the Horizon Mineral collection was presented in four pastel shades: pearl, nude, blue and green. Decoration-wise, and in a reduction mindset, Delage recommends engraving or debossing.
At the LUXE PACK Monaco show in 2022, Delage had also focused on sustainable stopper ranges that included the Explore collection featuring 100% natural corks or those made with bio-sourced plastic and oyster shell or wood, as well as varnish-free closures that use a heat-treatment technology to achieve their color.
