Following Ethica Global Investments’ acquisition of majority stakes in Italian decoration specialists Verbar and V.M.C. Mottini late last year, the two companies unveiled their new brand identity at Cosmoprof Bologna this month.
Decor Luxe is a new entity grouping together Italian companies Verbar and V.M.C. Mottini, specialized in surface decoration for luxury packaging. Under Ethica Global Investments ownership, it aims to strengthen its leadership in Italy, and grow its reach in international markets, notably in France and Germany.
Investments are being made to expand production capacity in 2023. At Cosmoprof Bologna earlier this month, when the Decor Luxe identity was unveiled, the company told Luxe Packaging Insight that investments to the tune of €6m are planned. A new coating line and UV sputtering line are in the works. It currently has two UV sputtering lines, with the third set to come on line this October that can do UV sputtering and UV lacquering in a single pass.
Decor Luxe, which is notably looking to develop in wines and spirits, also highlighted demand for UV sputtering from luxury make-up and skincare brands – it says this surface treatment is a cheaper and more eco-friendly alternative to galvanization.
V.M.C. Mottini was founded in 1997 and is specialized in coating, screenprinting, hot stamping and UV sputtering of glass and plastic packaging for fragrance and cosmetics. Originally dedicated to homeware coating, Verbar was set up in 1970 and is now known for its glass, metal and plastic coating and 3D sublimation expertise for perfumery and cosmetics as well as wines and spirits.
The combined group posted turnover of €26m in 2022.
