Operating out of Dubai Silicon Oasis, Dapy’s new MENA subsidiary is looking to capitalize on a market with strong potential. The French company hopes to increase its revenue in this region by 20-30% in the years ahead.
French supplier Dapy has set up a Middle East North Africa subsidiary, with a sales office in Dubai opening at the beginning of April. The company's office is located in Dubai Silicon Oasis, a free-trade zone.
“Having participated in the Beauty World Middle East trade show over the last five years, we've identified strong potential for the production of bespoke POS materials, which led us to set up a subsidiary in the region,” Dapy VP of Sales Marc Bruneau tells Luxe Packaging Insight. “We are strategically implanted in Dubai due to its central location that enables us to cover the Middle Eastern market, which requires a physical presence.”
In addition to POS displays, Dapy MENA is also focusing on gift boxes. “Fragrance and cosmetics is the core segment [in the region], although spirits is an emerging sector thanks to the expatriate community,” says Bruneau. He highlights that orders are currently underway; earlier this year it signed an order from an emerging cosmetics brand for POS displays.
While Dapy is looking into the potential of local manufacturing with partners in the region, it is likely that production will remain in Europe and Asia, due to these regions' competencies.
The MENA region currently accounts for a small part of Dapy’s sales. The company aims to increase its total turnover by 20-30% in the next three to four years.
