Family-owned Champagne house Château de Bligny has teamed up with Créations Theo Fabergé for a luxury packaging design conceived as “a work of art”. A silver-plated brass ornament inspired by a Fabergé egg is paired with a Champagne bottle featuring a pewter label.
Champagne Egg Creation is a limited-edition Champagne packaging created by Château de Bligny and Créations Theo Fabergé. The luxury packaging consists of the lower part of a Fabergé egg in which sits a bottle of Champagne fitted with a pewter label. The egg is created using the ornamental turning technique Theo Fabergé applied with his Holtzapffel lathe built in 1860
Conceived as a more contemporary version of an original, unreleased design, the base of the packaging is in sterling silver-plated brass. Fabergé-style garlands molded in brass and covered in 18-carat gold are set with six rubies in a nod to the six grape varieties of Château de Bligny Champagne. The rings are individually cut on a Holtzapffel lathe, while the feet are poured in brass, plated in 18-carat gold and covered in ruby-red enamel.
The pure pewter oval label (Applic’Etains) is embellished with screenprinting, embossing and gold hot stamping. Having sufficiently pronounced embossing in a reduced space so as to maintain the balance of readability desired by the brand was a particular challenge, according to Applic'Etains.
The bottle contains the Clos du Château Bligny grande cuveé 2013. Just 750 bottles are available, priced at €5,000.
