Chanel’s fragrance coffret favors feathers and crystal

For its new coffret, Beige et les Maisons d’art, Chanel called on French crystal maker Baccarat and feather artisan Maison Lemarié.

Beige et les Maisons d’Art is the second of Chanel’s limited-edition coffrets highlighting the work of French artisan craftsmen. This edition of the coffret houses Beige, a floral fragrance that is part of its Les Exclusifs de Chanel collection. The 50ml extract comes in a “sculpted” crystal bottle crafted by Baccarat, its top sealed by the baudruchage technique.

Maison Lemarié, feather and floral specialists—and one of Chanel’s Maisons d’Art acquired by the group in 1996—decorated the inside of the triptych-shaped coffret (made in France by Norline) with a tapestry of feathers. In addition to black and white feathers, there is a selection of varying shades of brown, a color scheme that refers to Coco Chanel’s favorite color, beige.

The coffret is limited to 25 numbered pieces and launches in October at a retail price of 10,000.
