Chanel rethinks Sublimage La Crème as on-the-go, refillable object

Chanel’s Sublimage La Crème is switching to refillable packaging this spring. The pack combines gold anodized aluminum refills with glass jars.

Refillable skincare products are on the rise, and are said to be a strong driver of consumer loyalty. Tapping into this trend, Chanel has revealed a refillable version of its Sublimage La Créme skincare product that aims to “combine functionality and aesthetics”.

Launching in March, the product packaging consists of a glass jar and black lid, into which slots a gold anodized aluminum refill. The lid is stamped with the brand’s double C. The refill can be used without the glass jar as an on-the-go product. A gold-colored spatula made of stainless steel and titanium comes with the cream.

Chanel’s new dual-component jars have been developed for all variants of Sublimage La Crème : Suprême, Universelle and Fine.

In France’s selective perfumery channel, sales of refillable skincare products were up 30% in the first 10 months of 2022, while sales of skincare refills increased 46%, according to The NPD Group.
