Camus Borderies Special Dry: a new twist on the hip flask

With its openwork design, the tin coffret housing Camus’ Borderies Special Dry Cognac is a new take on the classic travel flask. Embellished with matt and glossy lacquers, the packaging is also hot stamped in gold.

French cognac purveyor Camus has introduced Borderies Special Dry, a collector’s edition Cognac. For the packaging, the brand opted for a copper-colored tin flask with built-in aluminum measuring cup (both Cosfibel).

The openwork design required precise drilling on a thin layer of tin so as to not break the material during the forming and drilling processes. Lining up the decor and ensuring stability of the cognac bottle inside was an additional challenge, explains the supplier.

As for the secondary packaging, the cardboard coffret (Verpack) is sheathed in white coated paper with a soft touch finish. Inside, a deep black foam insert with a reduced thickness hold the flask in place. The insert was challenging to execute on account of the flask’s variable dimensions.

The image of the flask is reproduced on the top of the coffret, which is embellished with matt and high-shine varnishes. Gold hot-stamping was used on the sides and base. The coffret is manufactured via automated assembly in Europe.
