The just-announced MakeUp in NewYork IT Products award winners highlight innovations in the Packaging category, from Brivaplast’s Click ’n Go mascara to Coswell Korea’s micro-sculpting brow pencil. We take a closer look at the innovations that won over the jury.
Brivaplast’s Click ’n Go mascara pack was singled out for its ease-of-use. “Click, extract, use and click back” is the idea behind the patented one-handed system: users simply click the cap, extract the mascara wand to apply, then replace it and click again to close the tube. Made from PP, the tube is designed with a slight curve at the top of the cap to fit the shape of the fingertip. Bottle and cap can be decorated using various techniques, and the bottle neck can be fully decorated via hot stamping. Designed for on-the-go use, the mascara is also adapted to consumers who struggle to open traditional mascaras.
Coswell Korea's Eyebrow, a micro-sculpting brow pencil, scooped an IT Products Award thanks to its micro-fine triangular tip, which is said to easily mimic the look of real eyebrow hairs.
Pibiplast was recognized for its new flocked applicator designed to fill and groom eyebrows. The supplier opted for a rigid flocking fiber for the creation of the applicator, which has a specially designed “chisel” shape: the narrow part of the applicator is designed for filling, and the larger side for grooming.
Cosmei won an award for its Clear P line, a new eco-collection comprised of a pen and a compact that are made from 100% PP. The monomaterial aspect facilitates recycling, says the company; the line was designed to eliminate small components made from different materials. In terms of decoration, a variety of colors and finishes are available.
The CDG/WWP Beauty Eco Pac Tube, made from 100% Bio-PE (a bioplastic resin derived from sugarcane), is said to be up to 20% lighter than similarly sized tubes on the market. It is lightweighted thanks to an integrated cap closure, which can be embossed or debossed. The supplier claims that five tons of plastic are saved for every one million Eco Pac tubes produced. Eco Pac tubes are suitable for color, skincare, haircare and personal-care applications.
In the Accessories category, Livcer scooped an award for its Livstick, a hygienic and sustainable sampling solution that resembles a lipstick and can be applied directly to the lips. Livstick, which also won a MakeUp in Paris It Products award, is made of FSC-certified wood and is PET- and aluminum-free. Beyond lipstick, it can be used for any hot-poured formula, such as concealers and brow and eye products.
The MakeUp in NewYork IT Products winners, along with those from the Paris and Shanghai editions of the MakeUp in trade shows, are showcased on the Beauteamatch platform.
