Boosting product personality: Bemad launches eco-designed champagne pack

Design agency Bemad has launched a novel champagne paper packaging solution. A collaboration with La Paper Factory, the origami-inspired patented design is conceived to be adapted to a variety of premium products.

Alfred & Joe is the latest secondary packaging collection to come from French design agency Bemad. The project is in response to a brief from partner and packaging supplier La Paper Factory for a champagne packaging solution that communicates premium design codes, is environmentally friendly and provides ample protection for the bottle. “Designed to cost” and patent-protected, the pleated paper solution integrates a dual function of both insert and secondary pack.

Apart from the inclusion of magnets for closure—and Bemad is currently working on a magnet-free alternative—the pack is entirely made of paper, in this case a 120-130g/m2 paper weight.

“Recalling Japanese origami, these decorative and functional packs were created to protect and sheathe the product in an airy and poetic manner,” notes Guillem Riba, General Director at Bemad. The range is designed to be delivered and stocked flat.

Alfred & Joe is the starting point for further developments in the same design spirit, says Riba, as the range can be customized via the type of paper used, the shape, texture, color, printing and even size, with the option of oversized formats for display purposes. “This collection perfectly communicates Bemad’s positioning, which is to offer visually disruptive, eco-designed, technical solutions that can be personalized,” concludes Riba.
