Lithuanian design agency Bold Brands has combined artistry with purposeful design for a bespoke end-of-year holiday gift for its partners and clients. The bottle of red wine is sheathed in paper mâché, giving it a unique look.
Bold Brands Agency opted for 60 bottles of local Chokeberry wine from Lithuanian winemaker Gintaro Sino for its seventh handmade limited edition wine release. Despite being a rarely used material in wine and spirits packaging, the agency used paper mâché as the primary material to decorate the glass bottles. Each bottle is adorned in hardened white paper, creating a unique texture resembling a plaster sculpture. The highly textured bottles sport minimalistic paper labels on their facing and neck, which were made in-house using custom wooden stamps.
The design-to-product process wasn’t without challenges as the team needed to come up with the optimal paper thickness while keeping the ergonomic shape of the bottles and maintaining their functional aspect. To achieve this, the bottles were fully covered in paper mâché, which was dried and then cut at the neck level, allowing for the collar to be easily removed.
The project is a part of the Kaunus-based agency’s seven-year tradition of creating handmade limited edition wine bottles for the holiday season. Previous editions have included bottles decorated in hay and Yoshimura patterned boxes.
