Paperboard manufacturer BillerudKorsnäs has announced a “simplified organizational structure” for its businesses as of August 1.
The new structure is comprised of three divisions: Wood Supply, Operations and Commercial. Sustainability and innovation initiatives will be part an entity entitled Sustainability & Strategic Development, which will be headed up by EVP Ulf Eliasson. Tor Lundqvist has been named EVP of the Operations division, Helene Biström, EVP, will manage the Commercial branch, while Uno Brinnen is acting EVP Wood Supply.
In light of this new organization, Mikael Andersson, currently EVP Division Board, and Magnus Wikström, EVP Innovation, are leaving the company.
“The organizational structure now being implemented is one important step on a journey creating conditions that will allow a more optimal utilization of our resources and enhance our ability to adapt to changes in the outside world. We need to cater for rapidly changing customer needs for sustainable products and solutions,” noted BillerudKorsnäs acting CEO Lennart Holm in a statement.
As reported in the summer issue of Formes de Luxe, BillerudKorsnäs is looking to increase performance of its next-generation automatic machine (KM7), operational since October 2019 at the Gruvon site in Sweden, in a bid to ramp up production to 550,000 tons of premium materials annually. The supplier continues to drive its program to increase efficiency—initiated in late 2019 and expected to run through 2021—with the goal of saving €55m.
New products should account for 15% of BillerudKorsnäs' sales in 2023, according to Holm.
