Beauty packaging suppliers get Christmas wrapped up

The end-of-year holiday period traditionally sees a slew of launches in beauty. From advent calendars and coffrets to limited-edition palettes, we highlight a selection of products coming out for the 2020 festive season.

For Yves Saint Laurent’s Dress Me Wild collection, Cosfibel created a paperboard advent calendar housing sample-size skincare, fragrance and make-up items, each nestled in a hand-decorated drawer. The exterior is covered in screenprinted glitter paper, while the inside is matte black. The two doors are held closed with magnets and adorned with a golden YSL logo, which shows through thanks to a cut out in the bulk-dyed cardboard sheath.

Also part of YSL’s Dress Me Wild collection created by Cosfibel, the lip-shaped coffret houses miniature Pur Couture lipsticks. The paperboard coffet is coated in red glitter screenprinted paper, which also adorns the bespoke paperboard insert.

Guerlain’s limited-edition Golden Bee eyeshadow palette, a gold metalized compact in injected ABS by Texen Beauty Partners, houses 10 shades. The brand name is screenprinted tone-on-tone on the lid. A double-ended applicator, silkscreened with the Guerlain logo in gold, features a synthetic PBT fiber brush on one end and a mousse tip on the other.

Diptyque called on Parisian illustrator Ugo Gattoni for its 2020 advent calendar. The illustrations, dubbed Les Animaux Merveilleux, recount a Christmas fairytale. The structure, produced by Cavalieri, is offset-printed. Its 25 drawers house a selection of full-size and sample-size products chosen from among Diptyque’s most iconic references. The calendar is designed for reuse.

Paco Rabanne’s holiday fragrance coffrets made from tinplate are shaped through a stretching and embossing technique and then lacquered. The traditional PET sheath is replaced here by a hot-stamped kraft paper (Grumbe). Cosfibel manufactured six of the models (including insert and paperboard sheath), and Meiyume produced another six (with insert).

Created by Verpack, L’Occitane en Provence’s advent calendar is made from FSC paperboard, printed in full color with a protective UV matte varnish. It is also 100% recyclable; Verpack worked with Cellulopack to create a molded cellulose insert instead of the traditional plastic insert.

For French skincare brand Caudalie, Verpack created seven coffrets combining recycled and recyclable materials: recycled paper and cardboard, offset printed with plant-based inks. The insert is in RPET.
