The purchase of GMT Gráficos will enable French supplier Autajon to roll out its cardboard packaging solutions to the Portuguese market. Autajon has been active in label printing in Portugal since 2015.
Following the acquisitions of South Korea’s Pacific Package and US company Zapp Packaging last year, French company Autajon has acquired Portuguese paper and cardboard packaging specialist GMT Gráficos.
Founded in 2011, GMT Gráficos produces folding cartons, luxury gift boxes, countertop POS displays and publishing products. It serves the cosmetics, consumer goods, food and pharmaceutical markets. Based in Amadora, outside of Lisbon, it has a staff of 20. GMT Gráficos will now operate under the name Autajon Packaging GMT.
Autajon, a specialist in folding cartons and labels, already offers its label printing services in Portugal through Autajon Labels Eikon. “In Portugal, we have been active in labels since 2015, particularly with wine labels; now we are also in the folding cartons and luxury boxes market. Our input will be organizational and technological," Autajon CEO Gérard Autajon said in a statement.
The acquisition of GMT Gráficos follows Autajon’s purchases of South Korean cosmetics packaging manufacturer Pacific Package and US-based folding box specialist Zapp Packaging last year. The companies now operate under the names Autajon Packaging Pacific and Autajon Packaging Zapp, respectively.
“Our strategy is to be a global player with a local presence in all industrial segments that suit our savoir-faire and our ambition for excellence,” affirms Autajon.
