With global gin consumption forecast to increase 4.4% by 2023*, Australian wine brand Tread Softly is tapping into this growing market with the launch of its first gin.
Tread Softly (Fourth Wave Wine), a brand specialized in "moderate" alcohol wines, entered the gin market late last year. Its first product, Natural Botanical Dry Gin (37% alcohol content versus the spirit's traditional 40%), comes in a 100% recycled glass bottle, the stock Pharma Special model from glassmaker Estal featuring an arctic blue hue that varies with each production run.
Australia-based creative agency Denomination designed the minimalistic facing label printed on Manter’s Tintoretto Cashmere, a naturally colored and flecked label stock. The back label (DekorGlass/Ultra Labels), also the work of Denomination, depicts colourful flora and fauna painted by 19th-century artist Robert Thornton digitally printed directly on the glass. The label illustrations - which have been distorted to adhere perfectly to the glass - can be viewed through the liquid from both front and back of the bottle. The front label easily peels off, allowing consumers to reuse the bottle.
A glossy stock paper (Manter) overseal label secures the beechwood stopper (Tapi).
The gin is available in two versions, original or pink, and retails for €60.
Tread Softly plants one tree native to Australia for every six bottles sold.
