Beauty packaging specialist Aptar Beauty + Home has begun construction on its ambitious new industrial site in Oyonnax in France. The new factory replaces five existing sites in the basin and reinforces the supplier’s commitment to Made in France products.
Aptar Beauty + Home is investing €42 million in its greenfield site in Oyonnax, France. Described as a “center of excellence that will reinforce Aptar’s leadership as the driver of bespoke, eco-designed luxury [packaging] solutions,” the new 25,000m2 factory will be inaugurated in spring 2023. “By creating dynamism in the area of technologies, logistics, decoration capacities and premium personalized solutions, we are responding to the needs of our clients in a prestige market that is seeing strong growth,” said Aptar Beauty + Home EMEA President Xavier Susterac in a statement.
“It’s about being close to customers and a market that is growing faster and faster. If you want to be fast, you also have to be close to the action, to the market’s regional needs and a highly functional supply chain,” Susterac commented in a recent Luxe Packaging Insight webinar.
From an environmental standpoint, the site is conceived to be certified LEED Silver (second ranking behind Gold and Platinum) and to have the BiodiverCity label. Because the site will recover its own heat and no longer call for transport between different factories in the region, Aptar forecasts that the factory will save 45% energy and reduce emissions by 58% compared to the previous factories’ performance in 2018.
