French packaging company Albéa has created a new division, Innovative Beauty Group (IBG), in a bid to address the market’s need for fast turnaround, turnkey solutions and custom packaging collections.
IBG brings together Albéa’s former Beauty Solutions activities and the newly acquired companies Fasten and Orchard Custom Beauty.
Headquartered in Toronto, Orchard Custom Beauty is a full service, custom product development and manufacturing company active across the color, skincare, haircare, cosmetics brushes and tools & accessories segments.
Dutch company Fasten, meanwhile, designs and develops cosmetics packaging, with a focus on custom collections in fragrance, home fragrance, skincare, color cosmetics and personal care.
Xavier Leclerc de Hauteclocque, previously executive vice president of Albéa Beauty Solutions & North America, has taken on the role of president of Innovative Beauty Group. Speaking to Luxe Packaging Insight, he said that the goal is to be more autonomous from Albéa, but powered by the group.
Cécile Tuil, vice president of communication at Albéa, said that IBG is complementary to Albéa Packaging's activities. “It’s strictly sourcing: more creativity and concept to delivery, which is what Beauty Solutions did, but on a smaller scale,” she comments.
According to de Hauteclocque, IBG reports $160m in sales. The Albéa group generates total sales of around $1.5bn, of which $400m comes from its dispensing business that is set to be sold to Silgan later this year.
