French beauty packaging supplier Albéa has announced organizational changes following the retirement of President and CEO François Luscan earlier this year. At a press conference in Paris, the company also gave a sneak peek of packaging innovations that will be on show at LUXE PACK Monaco in October.
Following the retirement of Albéa President and CEO François Luscan earlier this year, the French beauty packaging provider is now headed up by the managers of its three business units: François Tassart, CEO Albéa Cosmetics & Fragrance, Nicolas Yatzimirsky, CEO Albéa Tubes and Xavier Leclerc de Hauteclocque, CEO Innovative Beauty Group (IBG). Tassart and Leclerc de Hauteclocque took up their positions in 2020, while Yatzimirsky stepped into his role in September 2021. Additionally, Julian Waldron has been named Managing Director of Albéa “to support the three CEOs in their role while managing activities on a group level and the holding company's departments”. The quartet make up Albéa’s board of directors.
In terms of innovations, Albéa presented its portfolio of new packaging products ready to hit the market at a press conference earlier this week. The products will be showcased at Luxe Pack Monaco on October 3rd-5th.
Twirl is a 50ml refillable cosmetics jar with an intuitive and simplified refilling gesture thanks to a guided screw system. The base and cap are in PET, while the refill is in PP. The size of the jar, the form of the refill and the materials used in the base can be customized.
Albéa's monomaterial refillable compact in PP is a lightweight pack (35% lighter than similar plastic compacts) said to offer an intuitive user experience and strong mechanical resistance. Conceived without a metallic hinge, it can be fitted with either a clear or opaque window. The supplier claims that the new compact’s environmental impact is reduced by 53% after two refills.
Three new volume mascara brush designs made of thermoplastic elastomer Pebax, and a chemical PCR jar made using Eastman’s Cristal Renew, were also on show.
Albéa Tubes has developed what it claims is “the first squeezable paper bottle”. Currently in the proof of concept stage, the bottle combines a standard PE plastic shoulder with Albéa’s tube technology. It contains a minimum of 50% FSC certified paper (without the cap or pump).
In terms of materials, Albéa Tubes says it is putting a big focus on transitioning from PP to PE capsules to offer monomaterial solutions, and is also looking at developing its offer in the refill arena.
