Hello Summer, Good-bye Waste, My Zero Waste Summer or Organic Summer in the Tropics: Adm’s latest collections leave no doubt as to the company's objectives for a green summer. "We’ve been focusing our efforts for several years now on increasingly sustainable and responsible sourcing," explain Cristina Alvarez and Juliette Roze, respectively global account director and design manager of the specialist in marketing solutions ranging from small leather goods to beauty accessories. "Our spring/summer 2019 collections emphasize both the sustainability of the materials used and their anti-waste approach.”Case in point with the two zero-waste ranges the company presented at Paris trade show Edition Special By Luxe Pack in June: "The first, Hello Summer, Good-bye Waste, is comprised of beach bags and recycled cotton kits. The second, My Zero Waste Summer, includes beach bags and kits but this time made of Global Recycle Standard (GRS) certified R-PET. The two ranges include detailing such as handles and straps, manufactured either from Recycled Claim Standard certified recycled leather, or from R-PVB (Recycled Polyvinyl Butyral), also GRS certified. "The recycled leather comes from leather glove manufacturing scraps, while the R-PVB is imitation leather made from recycled windshield glass," explains Roze. "And to complete our summer collections, we’re offering an organic line with beach bags, headbands and kits made of GOTS* certified organic cotton and printed with acrylic inks.In terms of CSR, Adm is taking a fair trade stance embodied by its Fair Fashion range that offers tote bags and flat kits in Max Havelaar-certified cotton, while its Treasure Water line features flat bags and kits made of recycled cotton (70%) and linen (30%) from water-efficient farming practices, according to Alvarez.Recycled leather is also in the spotlight across Adm’s leather-goods ranges via regenerated leather made from crushed scrap leather and mixed with natural latex. This material is the fruit of an exclusive partnership with Chinese company Recycled Leather, a move that allows Adm to concentrate the processes of leather conversion and bag production in a single geographical area "providing economies when it comes to transport and the resulting CO2 emissions," adds Roze. "This visually noble material lends itself to all sorts of embellishment techniques and will be available for leather-goods collections, bottle sleeves or even to decorate packaging for lipstick cases and rigid boxes for jewelry or fragrance," she concludes.
