Luxe Packaging Insight takes a look at some of the recent launches in the realm of dropper formats, from colored solutions and precious stones to wood and design-led offerings.
Last fall, Spanish dropper specialist Virospack launched what it claims is the first single-piece wooden dropper collar for cosmetics applications. Devoid of the traditional plastic inner cap, the collar is made using wood from sustainably managed forests. Different wood finishes including oak and beech are possible, as is decoration using organic lacquers. The bulb is available in a recyclable and food-grade option.
HCP aims to add a drop of color to skincare products with its line of colored droppers. The dropper can be combined with an overcap and a variety of PET bottle profiles, with a broad array of custom colors on offer. With its TPE bulb and PP pipette, the all-plastic pack can be disassembled for recycling.
Italian packaging company Lumson set out to combine “aesthetics and functionality” with Chisel, an ABS dropper with an elongated and ergonomic push-button design said to guarantee precision dispensing and ease-of-use. Chisel can be used along with all of Lumson’s glass flacons, and is said to be particularly suitable for oils, serums, liquid foundation or premium haircare treatments.
Meiyume developed a dropper containing gemstones (amethyst, aventurine or rose quartz, for example) inside the pipette; a small grill positioned at the top prevents them from entering the bulb. The supplier also offers a glass bottle solution where pipette, outer shell and cap are in anodized aluminum — the cold touch tip is destined for skincare and color cosmetics formulas. Two standard tips are available, in either doe foot or rod shapes. An array of anodizing colors are available, while the glass vial can be sprayed, screenprinted or decorated with a frosted finish.
Italian packaging company Baralan has added new dropper formats to its portfolio; Large Dropper 19 for bottles with a size 18/400 neck and Dropper 24, with an aluminum overshell, for bottles with a 24/410 neck. Designed for skincare and essential oils, the droppers are said to “effectively manage product flow from the bottle”. Featuring a PP closure, they are available with silicone or nitrile rubber bulbs and different tips can be selected for the glass pipette. The droppers can be combined with glass bottles from Baralan’s portfoilio and come in a range of colors. Custom decoration (coating, hot stamping and screenprinting) is also an option.
