Comte de Grasse, maker of 44°N Gin, has launched a new spirits brand, 06 Vodka. The super-premium spirit is housed in a sleek bottle with elongated neck, topped with the same distinctive closure as the Comte de Grasse gin.
06 Vodka is a newcomer to French distillery Comte de Grasse’s portfolio and is making its grand entrance with 06 Vodka x Rosé, a super-premium vodka infused with rosé wine. “With 06 Vodka we are combining two very different types of drinks to create a new drinking experience,” explains Comte de Grasse Founder & CEO Bagath Reddy. The name is a reference to the area of France where the distillery is based (Alpes Maritimes), as well as the idea behind the vodka, which was to capture the feeling of "6pm in Provence".
“The packaging is designed as per our core values of Curiosity, Science and Artistry,” Reddy tells Luxe Packaging Insight. Force Majeure Creative Director Pierre Delebois was behind the design. The sleek bottle (Estal) with elongated neck features a black sleeve (Sleever) adorning the facing. "The decoration on the lower portion of the bottle with its truncated cone shape is only feasible using sleeve technology. Like a transparent decor, the printing reproduces the shade of this new pink vodka," Sleever explains.
The zamak closure (Apholos) echoes the nickel-finished variant used for 44°N gin. As 06 vodka’s bottle requires a different cork diameter, the supplier had to adapt the existing mold to the new fitting.
“To ensure a smooth and uniform surface, each part is carefully hand polished before it is plated in the final color: a copper shade created to match the rose gold envisioned by the client,” Apholos Creative Director Luciana Botner explains. Rack plating was used to ensure a surface free of imperfections, with all parts finished separately and then assembled.
To create 06 Vodka x Rosé, the brand’s master distiller developed Active Wine Extraction (AWX), a low temperature, low pressure extraction method. Organic rosé wine is sourced from Château Vert in Provence, its flavor molecules are extracted and infused into French winter wheat vodka.
06 Vodka Rosé is available for pre-order; shipping begins next month. The brand is currently developing its physical distribution network, in France, the UK and Germany.
