3D Printing gains traction at Albéa

It’s official, Albéa has just announced the signature of a “strategic partnership” with Erpro 3D Factory, an alliance geared to the manufacturing of cosmetics packaging components via 3D printing on an industrial scale. Albéa notes that 3D printing allows for the creation of “makeup packaging, perfume caps, skincare jars and applicators” in shapes that are “impossible to obtain by traditional injection moulding”, all the while catering to the growing demand for personalized packaging.

Albéa showed the first fruit of its partnership with Erpro 3D Factory at Luxe Pack Monaco early October: Desert Family, a range of four mascara brushes made by laser sintering, which gives them a sandy feel that allows the formula to better grip the lashes. The range (pictured above) features an innovative design with one of the skus including mobile components conceived to better release the formula onto the lashes.

Erpro 3D Factory is the manufacturer of Chanel’s 3D printed mascara brush Volume Revolution, which is made from PA11, a bio-sourced castor oil-based raw material. A feat that was recognized by the jury of the 2019 edition of the Prix Formes de Luxe in the Makeup category.
