Guerlain’s (LVMH) emblematic Bee Bottle has been revamped for a limited edition of Santal Royal, a best-selling fragrance that is part of the brand’s Absolus d’Orient collection. The new bottle coincides with the fragrance’s fifth anniversary.
Guerlain called on urban artist Tarek Benaoum to renew the iconic bottle, which is manufactured by Pochet du Courval since it first launched in 1853. Each of the 22 flacons is hand-decorated: first spray painted in an electric cobalt blue, Tarek Benaoum then applied touches of gold by brush; a series of arabesques and calligraphic letterings with “oriental accents” that make each bottle one of a kind.
For the finishing touches, Guerlain’s Dames de Tables—whose role it is to apply decorative elements on the brand’s most exceptional bottles—wind a blue and gold colored cord around the neck of the flacon.
The one-liter bottle of Santal Royal retails for 10,000 euros.
